This Bachelor of Science in Herbology program consist of 30 courses and is designed to equip students with a comprehensive understanding of herbalism, botany, and natural medicine. Students will explore the history, theory, and practice of herbalism, as well as the scientific principles underlying the use of medicinal plants. The program will combine classroom instruction with hands-on experience in herb cultivation, identification, preparation, and application.

Program Outline

Year 1

Introduction to Herbology: Overview of the history, philosophy, and principles of herbalism.

Botany I: Basic plant biology, including plant structure, physiology, and taxonomy.

Organic Chemistry: Fundamental concepts of organic chemistry relevant to herbal compounds.

General Biology: Introduction to biological concepts, including cell biology, genetics, and ecology.

Year 2

Herbal Medicine I: Principles of medicinal plant selection, preparation, and administration.

Ethnobotany: Study of the relationship between humans and plants in different cultures.

Plant Taxonomy: Advanced plant classification and identification.

Biochemistry: Introduction to biochemical processes related to plant metabolism and secondary metabolites.

Year 3

Herbal Medicine II: Advanced herbal medicine practices, including clinical applications and case studies.

Pharmacognosy: Study of medicinal substances derived from natural sources, with a focus on herbal remedies.

Plant Physiology: In-depth study of plant growth, development, and response to environmental factors.

Herbal Cultivation and Horticulture: Practical skills in growing and harvesting medicinal plants.

Year 4

Herbal Research Methods: Introduction to research design, data analysis, and scientific writing.

Capstone Project: Independent research project on a topic related to herbalism, culminating in a thesis or dissertation.
