This fully online PTCB-Recognized pharmacy technician program is designed to prepare students for work in a variety of pharmacy settings. It provides a strong foundation in pharmacy law, pharmacology, pharmacy calculations, prescription processing, inventory management, and sterile/non-sterile compounding. The course also includes a 120-hour supervised externship in a retail or hospital pharmacy setting to provide real-world training and experience.
Course Learning Outcomes
- Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Interpret prescriptions and perform dosage calculations accurately.
- Understand drug classifications, indications, and interactions.
- Apply federal and state laws relevant to pharmacy practice.
- Utilize pharmacy information systems and manage inventory.
- Demonstrate aseptic technique and follow compounding protocols.
- Prepare for and successfully pass the National Certification Exam.
- Communicate effectively with patients, pharmacists, and healthcare teams.
- Apply classroom learning in a real-world setting during the externship.
